Athlete of the Year voting continues

The votes are continuing to roll in for the inaugural Grosse Pointe News Athlete of the Year scholarship contest. More than 5,500 votes have been cast by readers in support of male and female athletes from around the Pointes thus far.
Athlete of the Year nominees include all athletes who were featured over the course of the 2021-22 school year in the Grosse Pointe News Athlete of the Week series. Four athletes will be awarded Athlete of the Year honors whit a scholarship worth $500 each.
The Grosse Pointe News staff will name one male and one female winner of the Athlete of the Year contest. Your votes will determine the “Readers’ Choice” selections, which will crown an additional male and female athlete.
Voting is currently open and runs through 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4. Wondering how to vote? There are two methods of making your voice heard.
Voting can be done online by visiting You can also fill out a paper ballot and drop it off at the Grosse Pointe News offices, located in the Village at 16980 Kercheval. Paper ballots can also be photographed and emailed to to be counted.
The excitement surrounding the inaugural Athlete of the Year scholarship contest has been incredible so far, which will help this grow into a Grosse Pointe News tradition for years to come.
