Muawad wins competition

May 29, 2014

Grace Muawad of Grosse Pointe South High School is the winner of the annual Congressional Art Competition. The event featured more than 50 works of art from local students.

“Since my first term,” said U.S. Rep. Gary Peters, “the Congressional High School Art Competition continues to be one of my favorite events because the talent, creativity and artistic expression of our communities’ young artists never ceases to amaze. This year’s competition was no exception, and all of the high school students who participated demonstrated exceptional artwork that they and our community can be proud of. Thanks to everyone who helped make the Art Competition such a success. I look forward to welcoming Grace to my Washington office and seeing her winning piece displayed in the U.S. Capitol.”

Muawad’s artwork will be displayed in the United States Capitol Building for a year along with winning pieces from districts across America.

Participating Michigan schools were the Frankel Jewish Academy, Martin Luther King Jr. High School, Pontiac High School and South.
