Never forget

Two thousand nine hundred, seventy-seven American flags lined the lawns at both Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South high schools on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The flags — 2,977 reminders of the innocent lives lost 12 years ago in the tragedy of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center — were part of an annual national memorial, the 9/11 Never Forget Project, from the Young America’s Foundation, a conservative, non-profit educational organization.

Members from North and South’s chapters of Young Americans for Freedom led the memorial.

It’s the third such memorial at North and second at South.
