University Liggett’s girls’ basketball team evened its record at 4-4 early last week, whipping visiting Allen Park Inter-City Baptist 63-12.

“We’re playing much better and playing like a team,” head coach Omar Ahart said. “We’re a little banged up right now, but we will be OK.”

Sophomore Jessica Rotzoll had 18 points and senior Haleigh Ristovski added 16 as the Knights jumped out to a big lead and never looked back.

After opening the season 0-4, head coach Omar Ahart has guided his team to four straight wins, including three in the Michigan Independent Athletic Conference.

Could the Knights finally jump above the break-even mark later in the week?

The Knights indeed inched a game over the .500 mark with a more than convincing 61-18 victory at Auburn Hills Oakland Christian.

Ristovski posted her first triple-double, netting 17 points, 13 steals and 11 rebounds as Liggett improved to 4-0 in the Michigan Independent Athletic Conference and 5-4 overall.
