Breathing easy

September 13, 2012

Through the kindness of Grosse Pointe Shores residents, Lynn and Harry Kurtz, the Shores Public Safety Department has rescue pet masks. The Kurtz’s purchased the masks for the department. One mask is housed on each of the city’s two fire trucks. In the event an animal is rescued from a burning structure, the mask is applied to the pet to give it almost a pure supply of oxygen while the animal is conveyed to a veterinarian for treatment. Shown are PSO/Paramedic Justin Reeves, Harry’s dog “Boomer,” Harry Kurtz and Director of Public Safety John Schulte.
