Laura Maureen Patton, 88, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017, in hospice care at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.

She was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to George Lloyd Geary and Laura Blanche (nee Thompson) Geary, with the family moving to Michigan two years later. Known as Maureen to family and friends, she resided in St. Clair Shores and Grosse Pointe Park from that time on. After high school, while attending the Mienzinger School of Art in Detroit, Maureen met and married Thomas D. Patton. They had four children.

Maureen was a homemaker and professional artist. With the children grown and her husband retired from his career as a commercial artist, she enjoyed working as a nanny for two Grosse Pointe families. Her passions included children, the arts, reading, cooking, gardening, riding her bicycle along Lakeshore Drive and frequenting estate sales in the Pointes.

Maureen is survived by her daughters, Laura Patton, Georgianne Johnson (Tom) and Dorothy Fillery (Ian); grandchildren, William C. Johnson, Matthew M. Johnson, George A. Johnson, Ashton Fillery, Thomas D. Patton III and Taylor M. Patton and great-grandchildren, Aisling Patton and Virginia Johnson. She also is survived by her sister, Jackie Jessee; five nephews and two nieces.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Thomas D. Patton Jr.

Maureen was cremated. Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home in St. Clair Shores handled the arrangements. No formal service was held and no memorial contributions are requested.
