Curt Richard VandeVorde, 61, passed away suddenly Sunday, June 11, 2017, in Oscoda.

Curt was born Nov. 13, 1955, in Kalamazoo, and attended Alma College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business. He later earned a masterís degree in finance from Wayne State University.

In the late 1970s, Curt moved to the metro Detroit/Grosse Pointe area to pursue his career. He worked at Comerica Bank nearly a decade as a personal banker. In February 1994, he started his own insurance brokerage firm, cynoSure Financial Inc. His company specializes in providing warranties and product enhancement benefits and services to the automotive, credit card and banking industry. A pioneer within the market, Curt worked with dozens of Fortune 500 companies, including General Motors, Chrysler, American Express and eBay.

Curt loved reading, working on crossword puzzles, playing Euchre, watching movies, flying kites at his cottage in Oscoda and, most of all, spending time with his family.

A kind, brilliant, compassionate man, Curt is survived by his loving wife, Pamela; mother, Beverly; siblings, Lori Rivard (Chris), Scott VandeVorde (Lisa) and Julie Prentice; sons, Eric Tracy) and Brad; daughter, Bethany; stepsons, Jonathan (Deanna) and Brandon; grandchildren, Clara and Ada and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Richard and sister, Lynne Kealy.

Visitation will be 3:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 16, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack, Grosse Pointe Woods. Scripture service is at 7 p.m.

A funeral will be noon Saturday, June 17, at A.H. Peters.
