The totals are in. We once again applaud and thank the dedicated Grosse Pointe Elementary Physical Education Teachers of the Grosse Pointe Public School System. Both collectively on Saturday, March 9, at North High School and in their individual schools, organized and managed exciting and successful Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart events.
The event at North alone was attended by over 400 students from Defer, Ferry, Mason, Monteith, Poupard and Trombly. The enthusiasm and energy of both teachers and participants at this event was unbeatable. Individual school events were also held at Grosse Pointe North, Barnard Center, Kerby, Maire, Pierce, Richard and Trombly.
A grand total of $32,192 was collected by Grosse Pointe students to benefit the association in its fight against heart disease and stroke.
The American Heart Association is so appreciative of these efforts! Funds collected from Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart events support important cardiovascular research, community health initiatives and preventative education programs. The program also provides a heart-health Curriculum
Again, our gratitude and thanks to all of the student participants, their parents, Dr. Suzanne Klein and the wonderful and talented Grosse Pointe Elementary Physical Education Department for their work in keeping young hearts healthy.
