Enact for special needs

To the Editor:

I happened to catch the end of the school board meeting on April 7. I was rather surprised that Dr. Klein did not correct Jack Ryan's assertion that she and Dr. Lemerand played any role in the establishment of the Neighborhood Club's programs for special-needs children.

My friend, Jeanne Lizza, works tirelessly to enrich the lives of these children and she is the one who deserves to be recognized for her efforts.

Her son, my daughter, and many other children have greatly benefited from the program she, with community support, established at the Lochmoor Club, swimming and tennis; the Hunt Club, horseback riding therapy; and the Neighborhood Club, recreational and music therapy.

I suppose, in a round-about way, Dr. Klein and Dr. Lemerand could claim credit for these programs for their inaction inspired Jeanne Lizza to make a difference in the lives of special-needs children.
