Tough rounds

Grosse Pointe South boys' golf team finished 15th in last weekend's Division 1 state finals tournament at Michigan State University's Forest Akers East.

Swartz Creek won the championship with a 584, which was only one stroke ahead of Novi Detroit Catholic Central. Rockford was a close third, firing a 589.

The rest of the teams in order of finish were Grandville with a 596; Plymouth with a 597; White Lake Lakeland with a 598; Detroit U-D Jesuit with a 604; Battle Creek Lakeview with a 605; Saline with a 610; Ann Arbor Skyline with a 613; Clarkston with a 618; Macomb Dakota with a 621; Grand Blanc with a 624, Warren DeLaSalle with a 628; and Grosse Pointe South with a 635.

Head coach Rob McIntyre and the Blue Devils were led by Teddy Schooff with a 155, Reis Becker with a 157, David Szymanski with a 160 and Jon Theros with a 165.
