South is in finals, North falls shy

Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South competed in last week's 12-team Division 1 boys' golf regional tournament at The Orchards.

The top three teams earned a spot in this weekend's state finals at Forest Akers East.

Head coach Rob McIntyre and South earned one of the three spots after placing third with a 323. Macomb Dakota won the title with a 312 and Warren DeLaSalle was second with a 314.

Grosse Pointe North head coach Peter Kingsley missed the cut, taking seventh with a 338.

For the Blue Devils, junior Reis Becker led the way with a 79, followed by junior David Szymanski with an 81, freshman Teddy Schooff with an 81 and sophomore Jon Theros with an 82.

For the Norsemen, senior Eddie Nepi led the team with an 81. He was followed by junior Jack Muschong with an 83, sophomore J.P. Navetta with an 86 and senior Chase Wujek with an 88.
