Senior Tenley Shield put on a show to help host Grosse Pointe South edge Livonia Ladywood 3-2 on senior night.

Shield scored all three goals for the Blue Devils, including the game-winning tally in which she gained possession of the puck behind her own net, deeked past three Ladywood players in the defensive zone, then split the Blazers’ two defensemen before lifting a wrist shot over the goalie’s shoulder at the 10:18 mark of the third period.

She scored at the 13:44 mark of the second period and at the 3:37 mark of the second stanza as both teams scored twice in the second period after playing a scoreless opening stanza.

After the offense stalling the past few weeks, it has found life with Shield, senior Anne Crowley and sophomore Gennie Martin provided the best scoring chances during every shift they were on the ice.

South sophomore goalie Bella Strickler was phenomenal in net, stopping several break-away opportunities, including one late in the third period to keep the Blue Devils in the lead.

Grosse Pointe South improved to 8-8 in the Michigan Metro Girls High School Hockey League (Division 1) and 9-10 overall.
