University Liggett sophomore goaltender Olivia Portillo, played well to help the Knights stay alive in the division title race last week, edging host Ann Arbor Pioneer 2-1.

Sophomore Allison Stapleton had two points, scoring a goal and drawing an assist, to lead the Knights, which improved to 12-2 in the Michigan Metro Girls High School Hockey League and 14-3 overall.

Senior Ania Dow also had a goal and senior Mara Hillyer had an assist for the winners.

Liggett is in second place in Division 1 behind Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood.

If the Knights win the rest of their regular season games, they clinch the division title and No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
