The Grosse Pointe synchronized swim team has several new faces and a new head coach, Danielle Peck.

The Grosse Pointe Public School System teacher was on a synchronized swim team during her high school days at Troy.

Now, she is back in the game and enjoying every minute of it.

“I saw the job opening and I thought I would give it a try with my experience in synchronized swimming,” Peck said. “So far, things are going well and we can’t wait for our first meet in January.”

Seniors on the team are Kristen Kaled and Marie Bourke of Grosse Pointe North and the two juniors are Emily Martinbianco and Karyn Schwartz of Grosse Pointe North.

The rest of the squad is composed of underclassmen, including sophomores Stephanie Godoshian and Anu Subramaniam of North, Claire Drew of Grosse Pointe South and Lindsay Rabaut of South.

Peck also has several freshmen, Claire Duncan of South, Hannah Engels of North, Mora Downs of North, Olivia Francis of North, Sarah Corbet of North and Brooke Martin of South.

The team has six meets, with three in January and three in February. The girls compete in three figure meets and three routine meets.

“This is a very tough sport and our girls are going to work hard to do their best,” Peck said. “We have several more weeks of practice before we have our first competition.”
