The Grosse Pointe North girls’ field hockey team did everything in its powers to beat host Warren Regina in the first round of the Michigan High School Field Hockey Association Division II playoffs last week.

Head coach Brittany Paquette watched her Norsemen outplay the Saddlelites, but in the end they lost 2-1 in overtime.

Sophomore Alli Schaden scored midway through the second half to tie it 1-1.

Shortly after that goal, the Norsemen scored again, but it was called off.

The same call negated another Norsemen goal two minutes later.

The Saddlelites won the game with a goal just 1:12 into overtime.

Grosse Pointe North ended the season 3-12 overall.

Grosse Pointe South ended its season with a 3-1 loss to Bloomfield Hills Academy of the Sacred Heart in last week’s first round of the Division 1 state playoffs.

South finished the dismal season 3-12-2.
