The Grosse Pointe South Varsity Red Barons cruised to a third straight win in a 31-6 victory over the Chesterfield Chargers.
A scoreless tie midway through the second quarter was broken when linebacker Max Stricker intercepted a pass at the Chesterfield goal line to ignite the Barons.
Quarterback Davis Graham found Darrick Hollowell with a 21-yard completion to open the first scoring drive. Graham swept left end for 22 yards on the final play of the drive to put the Barons ahead to stay.
Cam Shook connected on the PAT.
Graham opened with runs of 15 and 13 yards behind the blocking of Presley Kaleta, Lawrence Peavy, Evan Bolles, Parker McKowen, Tanner Belanger, Joey DiMambro and Miles Dearing. Graham ended the drive with a 25-yard scoring pass to Brett Thalgott.
Jhordan Rush set up the Barons third score of the day with a 51-yard punt return to the 15-yard line. Cam Sparkman blasted off tackle for the touchdown behind the blocks of Max Cervantes, Lawson Wohlfarth, Anthony Ramsey, Kaleta, Jack Ratsek, Ed Kotula and Davon Gaines.
Hollowell and Graham fueled the final scoring drive of the day with back-to-back runs of 15 and 18 yards. Wally Kinni-Adebayo covered the final 15 yards to the end zone. Graham hit Williams for the PAT.
