University Liggett’s boys’ soccer team played only one half in its season-opening 10-0 home win over Harper Woods.

The game was called by mercy rule.

“We played everyone and a lot of the guys got involved in the scoring,” head coach David Backhurst said.

Adante Provenzano and Trevor Jones led the attack with two goals apiece, while Andrew Lohman, Anthony Simon, Noah LaMagno, Adam Fiema, Christian deRuiter and Warren Purvin had a goal apiece.

The Knights improved to 1-0 overall and prepare to host Bloomfield Hills Roeper at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. Saginaw Valley Lutheran faces North Muskegon game two.

The consolation game is 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, and the championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
