The Grosse Pointe North boys’ soccer team split its season-opening games.

The Norsemen hosted Warren Mott and won 1-0 on a goal by junior Chris Bahr and then hosted Utica and lost 4-0.

“We played a good game against Mott, playing solid defense and offense, but that wasn’t the case tonight,” head coach Skipper Mukhtar said. “I don’t know what our problem was, but we have to play better to give ourselves a chance to win.”

The Chieftains scored with 15:50 left in the first half to take a 1-0 lead and tacked on two more early in the second half to break open the close game.

North is 1-1 overall.
