The Grosse Pointe South boys’ soccer team opened its season last week with a 2-0 loss to Macomb Dakota. The visiting Cougars scored a goal in each half and scored an insurance tally at the 23:57 mark of the second stanza. The Blue Devils, led offensively by senior captain Andrew Cornwall, above, had quality scoring chances, but a couple of good saves by Dakota’s goalie and some passes that were just a foot long led to the home team not scoring a goal. On Monday evening, South lost 4-1 to Utica Eisenhower, dropping to 0-2 overall.
