Blue Devils roll to easy division win

February 14, 2013
The Grosse Pointe South girls' basketball team used a 40-14 first half to beat Sterling Heights Stevenson 74-38 last week.

It was only 15-5 after the first quarter, but the host Blue Devils blitzed the Titans for 25 second-quarter points to turn the game into a route.

"We used our defensive pressure to force a lot of turnovers (26 to be exact) and get a lot of transition baskets," head coach Kevin Richards said.

The Blue Devils were in cruise control in the second half to post another home win and improve to 9-0 in the Macomb Area Conference Red Division and 16-1 overall.

Senior Claire DeBoer had a double-double, posting 19 points and 12 rebounds, and sophomore guards Cierra Rice and Aliezza Brown were also in double figures, scoring 15 points apiece.

Junior Bre Andrews had nine points, followed by sophomore Cydney Webb with six, freshman Natalie Engel with five, senior Christy Flom with three and senior Emily Satterfield with two.
