Grosse Pointe South’s boys’ hockey team ended its three-game losing streak last week, beating host Dearborn Divine Child 4-0.

The Blue Devils scored once in the opening period when junior Tyler Demery tallied at the 8:04 mark. Junior Wyatt Flynn and senior Jake Corden had assists.

Neither team scored in the second period, leaving the outcome much in doubt for what would be a strong third period for the visitors.

It was still a one-goal game until the 7:30 mark when junior Andrew Bigham scored on the power play.

Corden and senior Ryler Maher had the assists.

Three minutes later, senior Shane Sparkman scored an insurance goal with Maher and sophomore Jason Sommerville netting assists, and for good measure, Bigham scored the final goal with newcomer to the varsity Alex Newell and Corden netting assists.

Head coach Bobby McKillop’s squad move one game above the break-even mark in the Michigan Metro Hockey League, 3-2, and is 3-6 overall.
