November 22, 2012 Grosse Pointe South's girls' swimming and diving team took home a trophy after finishing third in last weekend's Division 2 state championship meet at Oakland University.
Defending champ Holland won again, finishing with 311.5 points, while Ann Arbor Skyline was second with 255.5 and South was third with 190.

They scored points in nearly every event, including sophomore Catie DeLoof, who was the state champion in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 23.66.
Catie DeLoof also anchored the Blue Devils' silver medal 200-yard medley relay team. Freshman Claire Young, junior Gabby DeLoof, freshman Jennifer Maiorana and Catie DeLoof had a time of 1:45.83 to finish second to Holland.
Junior Cassandra Morse was 16th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.26,
In the 200-yard individual medley, Gabby DeLoof was third with a time of 2:06.45 and Young was ninth with a time of 2:09.22.
The Blue Devils had three other competitors in the 50-yard freestyle. Sophomore Amy Krausmann was 20th with a time of 25.13, Maiorana was 23rd with a time of 25.29 and junior Katie Graham was 29th with a time of 25.61.
Senior Aubryn Samaroo made the semifinals in diving, taking 19th place with 234.95 points, and Maiorana had a solid showing in the 100-yard butterfly, taking seventh with a time of 58.57.
Crowley was 16th in the butterfly with a time of 1:00.72 and Graham placed 41st with a time of 1:05.22.
Catie DeLoof added to her medal total, taking second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.86. She was just .12 away from Holland's Holly Morren. Morse was 13th with a time of 54.13.
The Blue Devils did not score a point in the 500-yard freestyle, but they roared back to grab a 10th place in the 200-yard freestyle relay as their all-underclassmen foursome of Morse, Graham, Crowley and Krausmann posted a time of 1:40.39.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Gabby DeLoof was second with a time of 56.38 and Young was sixth with a time of 57.70. Freshman Jackie DeLoof was 39th in the same event with a time of 1:03.26.
In the final individual event, the 100-yard breaststroke, sophomore Grace Perri was 24th with a time of 1:10.27 and senior Ellen Neveux was 35th with a time of 1:11.30. Senior Scarlet Cockell also competed and placed 45th with a time of 1:13.53.
The Blue Devils took third place in the state championship meet's final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay as Gabby DeLoof, Morse, Marioana and Catie DeLoof had a time of 3:30.32.
Ironicly, the finish in this event was Holland, first, followed by Skyline and South. It was just like the final team placement.
