Grosse Pointe North seniors Danny Ciaravino and Allison Francis competed in last weekend's Division 1 state championship cross-country meet at Michigan International Speedway.

Ciaravino was 104th with a time of 16:27.7 in the boys' meet, while Francis ran a time of 19:43.8 to take 136th in the girls' meet.


The boys' meet came down to the wire with Highland-Milford junior Brian Kettle edging Lake Orion senior T.J. Carey by a body length to win the race. Kettle had a time of 15:07.3 and Carey was at 15:09.4.

Senior Nathan Burnand of Waterford Mott was third with a time of 15:14.8, followed by Highland-Milford senior Cody Snavely with a time of 15:16.7; Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills senior Jeff Bajema at 15:21.1; Ann Arbor Pioneer junior Costa Willets at 15:22.6; Rochester Adams senior Stephen Biebelhausen at 15:26.4; Northville junior Dan Sims at 15:28.7; Mott sophomore Ryan Robinson at 15:28.8; and Royal Oak sophomore Ben Hill at 15:33.6.

In the girls' meet, Birmingham Seaholm senior Erin Finn outran Grosse Pointe South senior Hannah Meier, taking first with a time of 17:07.9 compared to 17:34.5 for Meier.

Other top runners were Adams senior Jamie Morrissey, third with a time of 17:48.7; Birmingham Seaholm senior Aubrey Wilberding, fourth at 17:55.9; Adams senior Gabrielle Thiviergg, fifth at 17:56.2; Saline junior Elianna Shwayder, sixth at 18:02.7; and Oxford senior Brooke Kovacic, seventh at 18:04.1.
