Sophomore Ryan Liagre earned his first varsity start at quarterback last week and it was a successful 34-14 win over host Roseville.

He threw a 62-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Jordan Spratt on the Blue Devils' first possession and added scoring passes of 19 and 58 yards to Spratt later in the game.

"We didn't make the decision until right before game-time," head coach Tim Brandon said. "He did a nice job and we needed that win."

Senior kicker Liam McIlroy kicked field goals of 28 and 31 yards and sophomore Jermaine Henson scored on a 1-yard run to complete the scoring.

"Our defense and offense came together and played well," Brandon said. "We're starting a tough part of the schedule, so this is a game we had to get."

Spratt finished with 158 receiving yards on four receptions and three touchdowns.

Liagre completed seven passes for 203 yards in his first varsity start.

Defensively, seniors Neil Fleming and Jack Doyle led the way in tackles for the Blue Devils, which improved to 4-1 overall. They remain 2-0 in the division.
