Parcells awards students for academic achievement

Several awards were presented to Parcells Middle School students at the end of the school year.

The Fred W. Adams award honors leadership in school and the community, concerns for others, a renaissance spirit and a commitment to educational pursuits.

Nominees were Anden Armbruster, Natalie Barstys, Timothy Bowers, Kelly Brewer, David Daher, Andrew Graham, Allison Lackner, Montana Paton, Lindsey Ramsdell and Lauren Sickmiller. The winners of the award are Sickmiller and Barstys.

The Brian Michael Aulph Award for Excellence in Effort and Attitude honors courage, tenacity, the ability and desire to rise to the challenge, enthusiasm and doing the right thing.

The award, in honor of the late Spanish teacher at Parcells, was presented to Michael Ciaravino.

The Presidents Award for Educational Excellence, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, honors students who have achieved high academic goals through hard work and dedication to learning.

To be eligible, students must have a minimum 3.5 grade pointe average, all 1's in reading and/or mathematics on MEAP tests all three years at Parcells. The winners this year are Robertson Brinker, Alexandra Dean, Madelene Martinbianco, Sonny Mulpuri, Maximillian Rakozy, Lindsey Ramsdell, Lauren Sickmiller, Evans Valice and Caroline Weaver.
