Recycling event set March 29

March 27, 2014
An annual recycling program will be held this Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. The Grosse Pointe Public School System hosts the electronic recycling program behind Brownell Middle School. Free will donations will go to local green programming. This recycling event is part of the district's larger Green School initiative. Every GPPSS school applies and earns some level of "green" status through the Michigan Green School Program. Points are earned for participation in various activities. For example, this spring, the district also will host the annual Lights Out event the Tuesday after Spring Break, April 29. This is done around Earth Day each year to remind people that even little actions like turning off classroom and office overhead lights when safe to do so can make a big difference.
