September 19, 2013
Hannah Ayrault, of Grosse Pointe Park, will attend Interlochen Arts Academy, a fine arts boarding high school located in northern Michigan. Ayrault, the daughter of Lisa and Terry, has enrolled in the singer-songwriter program.

She previously was a student at Grosse Pointe South High School.

An award-winning composer who has performed original compositions in the Michigan Music Educators Association’s Composition Concert each of the last three years, Ayrault has shown an interest in pursuing a career in music performance since age 5, when she started playing the piano.

For three years at South, she was a member of the choir, which traveled to Italy February 2012, and performed as a soloist with the show choir.

She was also a member of Ellen Bowen’s Metropolitan Academy of Performing Arts and has performed the National Anthem before Detroit Tigers games at Comerica Park during the last two seasons.

As a pianist, she has consistently received superior ratings in the Michigan Music Festival.

Ayrault was also an editor at South’s student newspaper, The Tower.

According to the Academy’s website, Interlochen attracts more than 500 young artists from 40 states and 15 countries to study music, theater, dance, visual arts, creative writing and motion picture arts in a college-like setting. It has produced 40 Presidential Scholars, and its alumni include: Jewel, singer-songwriter; Felicity Huffman, actress; Peter Erskine, jazz drummer; and Bill Zheng, car designer.
