St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School held its annual Turkey Trot last Thursday, Nov. 8. Students from all grades, kindergarten to eight, participated in the event, running various distances around streets Charlevoix, Three Mile, Vernor and Audubon in Grosse Pointe Park.

Kindergarteners ran down Audubon from Vernor to Charlevoix, first and second graders ran from Three Mile and Audubon back to the school at Audubon and Charlevoix, third and fourth graders ran around the entire block, fifth and sixth graders ran 1.5 blocks and seventh and eighth graders ran the block twice, about a mile in distance.

“We had a great day — lots of sunshine and cool temps,” said Mary Jeanne Franzinger. “Many parents attend and even participate by running in this event as it is always great fun.”

Winners at each grade level received a turkey. They included: Ella Jenkins and Tavean Colston, first and second grades; Frances Boyle and Robert Williams, third and fourth grades; Olivia Miller and Michael Stritzinger, fifth and sixth grades; and Jasmine Browning and Brian McNamara, seventh and eighth grades. All kindergarteners earned a small prize as well.
