Calico opens in the Village

June 05, 2014
Calico Corners, now simply "Calico," has moved from its location on Mack in St. Clair Shores to 17101 Kercheval, in the Village, City of Grosse Pointe. The completely remodeled store opened Thursday, May 29.

Founded in 1948, Calico is a privately held company with 85 locations across the United States. It specializes in custom home decorating and offers more than 7,500 fabric and trim options as well as furniture, custom window treatments, reupholstery, slipcovers and more.

Store manager Mari Ellen Borcherdt and her staff are excited about the new face of Calico in Grosse Pointe. "The Bloomfield Hills and St. Clair Shores locations were among the earliest stores in the company. We've been decorating homes in this area for more than 50 years. We can't wait for customers to discover our great new store," Borcherdt said.

Calico has helped three generations of customers create beautiful homes. "We know that great rooms start with great fabrics," Borcherdt said. "And Calico has a speed-to-market advantage in getting the best new product to the market before even the top to-the-trade design showrooms."

The store has been fitted with new fixtures, displays, furniture and, of course, new fabrics.

Calico will also sponsor the "Music on the Plaza" jazz concert performances that begin Thursday, June 5. Before each concert, the store will have an Open House, offering cold refreshments to visitors from 5 to 7 p.m.

Calico's regular store hours are Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. Call (586) 775-0078 or visit calicocorners.com for more information.
