January 23, 2014
GROSSE POINTE WOODS — An arrest has been made in the November assault of an elderly woman in the parking lot at CVS parking lot on Mack.

Theodore Joseph Colo, 32, was arraigned before Municipal Court Judge Ted Metry Wednesday, Jan. 15 on five counts, including robbery unarmed, a 15-year felony; two counts of possession of a financial transaction device, a four-year felony; and two counts of illegal use of a financial transaction device, also a four-year felony.

A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf and a preliminary examination on the charges was set for Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. in the Woods municipal court. A court appointed attorney has not yet been assigned.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26. The victim, an 83-year-old St. Clair Shores resident, had left the CVS Drug Store and was placing items in the trunk of her car when Colo allegedly drove up, reached out through his window and grabbed her purse.

This caused the victim to fall and injure her elbow and hip. The victim was admitted to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

Police were able to use surveillance videos in assisting them in making the arrest.
