Scholarship auditions held

Grosse Pointe area high school students and those who have an interest in furthering their theatrical performance or technical theatre work education can apply for scholarships awarded by Grosse Pointe Theatre. Auditions and presentations are at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, April 14, in Fries Auditorium at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, 32 Lakeshore, Grosse Pointe Farms. To qualify, applications must be received by April 8.


Applications are available to high school students who fulfill at least one of the following:

Be enrolled in a Grosse Pointe high school or be a resident of the Grosse Pointes;

Be a child or grandchild of a Grosse Pointe Theatre season ticket holder;

Have performed in a Grosse Pointe Theatre show or worked backstage on a crew with acknowledgement in the show's program or

Have performed in GPT Youth On Stage program

Scholarships :

Theatrical performance;

Technical theatre work or

A combination of both.


High school senior students planning to attend an accredited college or university.

Under class students enrolled in a recognized undergraduate summer theatre or performance camp.

Stage performance

Applicants must present:

A memorized dramatic monologue or cutting less than three minutes and a memorized humorous monologue or cutting less than three minutes;

An optional singing or dancing talent demonstration, less than three minutes, to a taped musical accompaniment.

Limit the use of props or costumes.


Applicants should prepare a presentation of their work, which could include sketches, photographs, models, programs, etc. one week prior to the deadline.

The scholarship audition form is available at gpt.org or can be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. weekdays at 315 Fisher, City of Grosse Pointe.
