CITY OF GROSSE POINTE — Owners of The Framing Gallery of Grosse Pointe on Mack will have three new awnings to go with municipal water main and streetscape improvements.

The awnings are for the store's front door and two picture windows.

Because the awnings also are printed with the street address and company services, they're regulated under terms of the municipal sign ordinance.

"The awnings meet the city's sign ordinance," said John Jackson, City of Grosse Pointe planning consultant. "The new awnings will be a very attractive addition to a longstanding business on Mack. The awnings will update the facade of the building and help identify the business."

A review of site plans passed this month's meeting of the city council.

The gallery is a family-owned business.

"Part of the reason they're doing this is improvements the city is doing along Mack," Jackson said.
