On Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, the Grosse Pointe War Memorial invites the community to say thanks to the nation’s veterans and men and women who serve in uniform at a special program.
Brig. Gen. David G. Bassett is the guest speaker at the Veterans Day breakfast.
The $10 tickets go on sale Oct. 17. Grosse Pointe veterans receive one complimentary ticket. The breakfast starts at 8 a.m. Doors open at 7:45 a.m. for open seating. Reservations can be made no later than Friday, Nov. 2, by calling (313) 881-7511. Seating is limited. Tickets must be presented at the door for admission.
There will be a memorabilia display and a “Toys for Tots” drop off box. Veterans can apply for or renew their veterans ID cards following the breakfast.
Bassett is a program executive officer ground combat systems, stationed at the Detroit Arsenal.
He is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.and a distinguished graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C.
Bassett has been the chief software engineer for the future combat systems network, program integrator and product manager of software integration for future combat systems, ground maneuver analyst for the army’s capabilities and acquisition division-J8, project manager for tactical vehicles within the program executive office for combat support and combat service support and the deputy program executive officer for combat support services.
