April 25, 2013There are a few signs of spring, mostly ignored by Mother Nature this year.
Despite a fraudulent forecast by furry Phil of Punxsutawney, Pa., no one should ignore the good time planned at the Action Auction May 8 & 11.
A sure sign of spring is the annual fundraising event by the Grosse Pointe Academy.
This year's event features some of the great things from years past with a few new twists and is titled "All the places you'll go."
The two-night event begins with a silent auction from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8. Cocktails and strolling food stations catered by Plum Market are part of the evening, which also gives a live auction preview from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The silent auction features dozens of great donated gifts and will utilize the ClickBid process, which allows bidding from smartphones, iPod Touch devices or tablets.
Volunteers will have bidding devices to help at the event.
The main event begins 6 p.m. Saturday, May 11. The silent auction is open until 7 p.m. Cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and seated dinner begin at 6 p.m. and is catered by Plum Market . DuMouchelle Auctioneers will start the live auction at 7:30 p.m. and the night ends with Neiman Marcus Club Action Auction, with dessert and dancing from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Both nights are at the Grosse Pointe Academy Tracy Fieldhouse. Complimentary valet parking is available at the Moran Road entrance.
