February 07, 2013
The Fontbonne Auxiliary of St. John Hospital and Medical Center raised more than $161,000 at its 2012 White Christmas Ball. General chairwoman, Marie DeLuca, said the proceeds would benefit the renovation and expansion of the neonatal intensive care unit at St. John Hospital and Medical Center.

The 59th Annual White Christmas Ball, “A Twinkle in the Eyes of a Child,” was Saturday, Dec. 8, at The Detroit Institute of Arts with more than 500 in attendance.

The evening included cocktails, dinner, dancing and admission to the Impressionist Galleries and the American Wing, followed by a 9:30 p.m. after glow party.

Music was provided by The Jerry Ross Band. Guests left the event with silver Christmas trees provided by edmund t. AHEE jewelers.

This year’s honorary chairwoman was Mary Ann Van Elslander. She serves on the Fontbonne Auxiliary board and has contributed her time and talents to the hospital’s many endeavors as well as volunteering weekly in the neonatal unit.

This year’s celebrity chairs were WDIV-TV news anchor Devin Scillian and his wife, Corey, a ceramic artist.
