The Detroit Historical Museum holds a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, opening the Junior League of Detroit's exhibit spotlighting its 100 years of service to the community. The exhibit runs through Sept. 28.

The museum is located at 5401 Woodward, Detroit.


Four Grosse Pointe businesses will donate proceeds from specific items to Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 20, during a stray rights fundraising campaign.

Proceeds from a silent auction and blow drys are offered by Salon Daniele, 18546 Mack, Grosse Pointe Farms; donations for standard house key duplications at Village Lock & Home Repair, 18554 Mack, City of Grosse Pointe; $1 from pawberry-lemonade adult drink will be donated by Blufin Sushi, 18584 Mack, Grosse Pointe Farms; and Charvat the Florist offers balloons and roses' donations to GPAAS. Wally's Custard will be on site at Salon Daniele selling ice cream.

Animals for adoption are available at Charvat the Florist, 18590 Mack, Grosse Pointe Farms.

The Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce hosts speakers Angie and Jamie Bellos Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. Their topic is "Just be Fearless and Free." Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the presentation is from 8 to 9 p.m. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
