Students ages 13 to 18 can attend a music production workshop at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the Woods branch.

Parent workshop

"Making Great Choices When Buying Toys" is the 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, topic to be addressed during the Parents Empowered workshop. Attendees meet at Whistle Stop Hobby & Toy Inc., 21714 Harper, St. Clair Shores. Toy store employees and Kids on the Go therapists discuss toys and products that are developmentally appropriate, multisensory and educational.

Grosse Pointe Woods

Register by Friday, Aug. 1 to watch the Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates play Thursday, Aug. 14, at Comerica Park.

Reservation-holders should plan to be at the Grosse Pointe Woods Community Center at 11:45 a.m. to board the bus. Tickets cost $41 for Grosse Pointe Woods residents, $46 for non-residents and include round trip bus transportation, entrance to the game and a lunch voucher.

War Memorial

The Grosse Pointe War Memorial offers a summer family festival, a series of four Wednesday night concerts and four free family friendly films on Monday nights. Several summer youth camps are available. Phone (313) 881-7511 for reservations.

Lakeside Yoga — 8 to 9 a.m. Thursdays, July 10 through Aug. 21. All levels and abilities can attend, including those new to the practice. Bring a mat, strap and two blankets. Weather permitting, class will be held outside. The cost is $68 or $73 on day class starts.

Fun Photography Refresher & Photo Walk — 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 15. Instructor Derek Cookson gives pointers to improve shooting photos through hands-on experience. Topics include composition, natural lighting tips and photography fundamentals. The fee is $33.

Monday Movie Night — 9 p.m. Monday, July 21, 9 p.m. The featured movie is "Babe." Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Popcorn available for purchase. Admission is free.

Summer Family Festival — 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. Jazz clarinetist Dave Bennett opens the concert series. Bring a lawn blanket or chair. Food is available for purchase or bring a picnic. The $25 ticket all-event pass admits one adult and one child under age 10 to four concerts; $10 combo ticket admits one adult and includes a combo meal to one show; an $8 individual ticket admits an adult and a child under age 10.

Summer Sippers — 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 24. Taste dry, rose, white and red wines. The $45 cost includes light appetizers and six to eight samples. Attendees must be 21 years of age.
