St. Ambrose

St. Ambrose Catholic Church holds a Lenten buffet from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 4. Adults pay $15 and children's meals cost $10. Carry-out service is available by calling (31) 822-1594.

Star of the Sea

Our Lady Star of the Sea hosts a Lenten Friday fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the Parish Center, corner of Morningside and Fairford, Grosse Pointe Woods.


Adult meals cost $10 and children's meals cost $5.

First English

The Open Door Series at First English presents The Grunyons at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 6, in the sanctuary.

The nearly two dozen singers sing popular songs in an eight-part vocal jazz style. The Grunyons organization is a close harmony a capella male singing group which has been entertaining for benefits and parties in the Detroit area for 65 years.

The group was formed in 1949 by Yale Whiffenpoof graduates who wished to continue their singing experiences.

General admission tickets cost $10 and students and seniors pay $7. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

"The Last Judgment" is the topic of the 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday, April 6, services.

"The Anointing of Bethany" is the topic for the 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Lenten services, Wednes-day, April 9.

A buffet lunch is served after the morning service and a supper precedes the evening service.

St. Michael's

Pianist Kimberly Maes performs at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Music in the Woods series held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 20475 Sunningdale Park, Grosse Pointe Woods,

An at-will donation of $10 is accepted.

Christ Church

Christ Church Grosse Pointe's choir of Men and Girls sings at the 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6, Evensong service.

The church is located at 61 Grosse Pointe Blvd., Grosse Pointe Farms.
